No-Cost Community Services

We offer three free, community-led services to ensure access and support:

Emotional Wellness & Culturally Safe Counseling

  • One-on-one and group sessions in Somali, Amharic, Yoruba, Twi, French, and Caribbean dialects
  • Address grief, migration trauma, intergenerational conflict, social isolation
  • Delivered via partnerships with community counsellors, social workers, and interns

Dementia-Friendly Care & Sensory Programs

  • Memory cafés featuring African/Caribbean music, storytelling, familiar foods
  • Sensory stations (touch, smell, sound) to stimulate memory and reduce anxiety
  • Supported by student volunteers, donated materials, and caregiver collaboration

Advocacy & Paperwork Help Desk

  • Bilingual assistance with ODSP, OHIP, CPP, pensions, immigration, housing, and settlement services
  • Partnering with legal aid, settlement agencies, trained volunteers.
